For day 1, you can start with Buckingham Palace and then visit Westminster Abbey and then go see Big Ben.
Then you can continue to Trafalgar Square etc…

A question for you on Day 1’s itinerary which we are planning out for a Monday in May. Since Westminster Abbey does not open until 9:30am and Changing of the Guard is recommended to arrive by 10:30am, what timing do you recommend for the morning? Do you recommend then seeing Big Ben earlier than the Abbey opens and the London Eye in the afternoon? Any tips to make the most out of the day are welcomed! Thank you!

London is one of the big tourist cities. So it’s busy all year round, whatever the season.
I would still recommend that you buy skip-the-line tickets for the main attractions.

From Heathrow airport you have:

– The Heathrow Express, the train that links the airport to Paddington station in just 15 minutes.
Paddington is just north of Hyde Park. From here you can walk or take the tube to attractions.
You can book your journey directly online by clicking on the following link: Heathrow Express.

– The Underground runs from the airport directly into central London.
It’s cheaper than the train but takes longer (about 1 hour).

– The bus to Victoria bus station, which is just 1 km from Buckingham Palace (journey time between 45 min and 1 hour).

Also, what kind of public transportation is available from airport?

For £60 per night, there is the “Z hotel” chain I’m talking about which offers rooms at that rate at certain times of the year, but these are rooms for 2 people.

Unfortunately, you won’t find accommodation for 5 people at £60 a night in London, the rates are usually much higher.
You can check Booking or Airbnb for your travel dates and that will give you an idea of the rates at this time of the year!

Moving away from London city center will help to find cheaper accommodation, however you would also need to add the cost of public transportation for 5 people.

You can buy your London Pass 1 or 2 months before your trip to London.
For the Oyster Card, you can buy it directly on arrival, at the airport or in a metro station.
