The French Quarter, or Vieux Carré, is the historic heart of New Orleans.

You should stay in this district if you want:

• Jackson Square, an historic park facing the Mississippi River
• St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest continuously active Roman Catholic cathedral in the United States.
• Preservation Hall, an iconic venue for traditional New Orleans jazz.
• Café du Monde, the perfect spot to enjoy classic beignets and café au lait.
• The French Market, a historic open-air market with food, local crafts, and souvenirs.

In the Central Business District (CBD) & Warehouse District

Just across Canal Street from the French Quarter, the CBD and the adjacent Warehouse District offer a more modern experience.

This area is known for its high-rise hotels, contemporary art galleries, and some of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants.

You should really stay in the CBD if you want:

• To enjoy fine dining and trendy rooftop bars with city views.
