This area is mostly pedestrian-friendly, making it a pleasure to explore on foot.
It’s the best area to soak up the culture and history of Hoi An.
You should stay in this district:

- If you love lively evenings, with countless restaurants, riverside bars, and the famous night market.
- For a culturally rich trip.
This is the perfect area to see:
- The Japanese Covered Bridge, the city’s most famous landmark, built in the 1590s.
- Ancient Merchant Houses, like the Old House of Tan Ky, offering a glimpse into the past.
- Chinese Assembly Halls, such as the colorful Phuc Kien (Fujian) Assembly Hall.
- The Thu Bon River, where you can take a boat ride, especially at sunset.
- Hoi An Night Market, located on An Hoi islet, just across a small bridge.

An Bang Beach, the Best Beach in Hoi An
An Bang is Hoi An’s most popular beach district, known for its long stretch of white sand and laid-back vibe.
Just 15 minutes by taxi from the Ancient Town, it’s the ideal spot to combine cultural sightseeing with a relaxing beach holiday.
You can stay in An Bang:
- If you want to spend your days by the sea, while still being a short ride from the Ancient Town.
- For a family holiday, as the beach is great for kids and many hotels have pools.
- For a relaxed atmosphere with beachfront restaurants and casual bars.
