In Marbella Historic Center
The historic center of Marbella, known as Casco Antiguo, is the most charming and authentic part of the city.
You will really find the typical Andalusian atmosphere there: narrow cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, small squares, tapas bars and nice boutiques.
The beach and promenade are only 5-8 minutes walk away.
You should stay in this district:
- For a first time stay, as you can easily visit everything on foot
- To eat and drink well: this is where the best restaurants and bars are concentrated.
- If you want to enjoy the authentic atmosphere
- For a romantic or cultural trip.
This is the perfect area to see:
- Plaza de los Naranjos, the orange-tree-filled main square with the town hall and cafés.
- Iglesia de la Encarnación, the main church.
- The old city walls and castle remains.
- Avenida del Mar with its Dalí sculptures leading to the beach.
- Alameda Park and the bonsai museum.
Where to Stay in Marbella Historic Center?

Strong points: the first Relais & Châteaux in Marbella, gourmet restaurant, magnificent 16th-century architecture mixed with modern luxury. An exclusive hideaway for foodies and history lovers.
- Hotel Claude Marbella: Beautiful 17th-century mansion turned boutique hotel. Elegant double rooms from 350€, breakfast included. Strong points: unique historic character, exquisite decor, outstanding service. My favorite hotel for a romantic stay in Marbella old town!
In Marbella Beachfront (Promenade area)
The beachfront promenade is right next to the historic center and offers direct access to the sand and sea views.
Here you are literally steps from the beach while still being able to walk to the old town restaurants and squares in 5-10 minutes.
You should stay on the beachfront if you want:
- Direct beach access and sea views.
- To combine old town atmosphere with beach life.
- Adults-only modern vibe or classic 5-star service.
This area is perfect to discover:
- The main Marbella beach and promenade, for walks and cycling.
- Chiringuitos (small beach bar) and beach restaurants.
- Quick access to Avenida del Mar and the old town.
Best hotels on Marbella Beachfront
- Ona Princesa Playa: Located directly on the Paseo Marítimo, facing the sea and just steps from the old town. Studios and apartments from 130€. Strong points: rooftop pool with panoramic sea views, kitchenettes in all rooms, direct access to the beach. Can’t beat that price for a beach stay in the heart of the Marbella.
- Amàre Marbella Beach Hotel (Adults Only): A really nice and modern hotel right on the beach. Stylish double rooms from 220€, breakfast included. Strong points: rooftop pool and bar with DJ, direct beach access, excellent breakfast, lively but relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic stay near the beach!
- El Fuerte Marbella: Iconic 5-star hotel located on the beachfront next to the old town. Elegant double rooms from 450€, breakfast included. Strong points: outdoor pool, rooftop terrace, sea-view rooms, exceptional staff, perfect location. The best sea-front hotel of Marbella City center!
In the Golden Mile
The Golden Mile is the famous beachfront strip between Marbella old town and Puerto Banús.
This is where the most legendary luxury hotels, villas and beach clubs are located, with direct access to the best beaches.
It offers a sophisticated and relaxed atmosphere while remaining close to everything.
You should stay on the Golden Mile if you want:
- Beachfront or very close to the beach with excellent facilities.
- Luxury, without the full-on party scene of Puerto Banús.
- To be able to reach the old town and the marina in a few minutes by car or taxi
This district is perfect to discover:
- The beaches of the Golden Mile (Casablanca, Funny Beach side, etc.).
- Marbella Club & Puente Romano beach clubs.
- The promenade for walking or cycling.
- High-end restaurants and the famous chiringuitos.
Here are my favorite hotels on the Golden Mile
- NH Marbella: Modern hotel on the Golden Mile. Spacious double rooms from 175€, breakfast included. Strong points: outdoor pool, gym, 300 m from the beach, excellent value for the location.
- Alanda Marbella Hotel & Wellness: A 5-star hotel focused on wellness. Contemporary double rooms from 180€, breakfast included. Strong points: organic “healthy” breakfast, huge pool, very quiet atmosphere (it’s an alcohol-free hotel). A great choice for its excellent value for money on the Golden Mile.
- Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach: A really nice beachfront resort surrounded by palm trees. Double rooms from 190€, breakfast included. Strong points: 2 pools, direct beach access, family rooms available, very peaceful.
- Coral Beach Aparthotel: Superb location on the Golden Mile, just 1 km from Puerto Banús. Spacious apartments with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms from 250€. Strong points: direct access to the beach, huge 22,000 m² tropical garden, large swimming pool, beautiful sea view from the terraces. The perfect choice for staying right on the beach!

Puerto Banús is Marbella’s glamorous marina, filled with super-yachts, luxury cars, designer boutiques and lively bars.
This is the most vibrant and showy area, with a strong energy day and night.
Staying here puts you right in the heart of the action.
You should really stay in Puerto Banús if you want:
- The full glamorous Costa del Sol experience.
- Nightlife, and beach clubs
- Designer shopping and marina views.
This district is perfect to discover:
- The marina
- Puerto Banús Beach.
- Ocean Club, La Suite, Nikki Beach (nearby).
- El Corte Inglés and all the luxury brands.
- Rooftop bars and nightclubs.
Here are my favorite hotels in Puerto Banús district
- Paloma Blanca Boutique Hotel: Located in the quiet Cortijo Blanco area, just a 5-minute drive (or 20-minute walk along the beach promenade) from Puerto Banús. Bright, modern double rooms from 150€, breakfast included. Strong points: saltwater pool, stylish design, intimate atmosphere away from the crowds. A peaceful and oasis close to the party scene, at a great price.
- BlueBay Banús: 10 minutes walk from the marina. Comfortable double rooms from 150€, breakfast included. Strong points: 3 outdoor pools, beautiful tropical gardens, private parking, very good value.
- Occidental Puerto Banús: Perfectly located steps from the marina. Modern double rooms from 180€, breakfast included. Strong points: excellent location, spacious rooms, friendly staff.
- Hard Rock Hotel Marbella: An iconic hotel located right in Puerto Banús. Stylish rooms from 210€, breakfast extra. Strong points: rooftop pool, live music, rock atmosphere, Eden pool parties in summer. Simply the best hotel for a high-end stay in Puerto Banús!
Where to Stay in Marbella on a Budget
If you’re traveling on a budget, here are a few great hotels and apartments for a stay in Marbella without spending too much:
- Pensión Aduar: In the historic center. Simple double room from 65€. Strong points: excellent location, very clean, friendly owners.
- Ona Marbella Inn: Located in the city center, 5 minutes from the beach. Studios and apartments from 80€. Strong points: small rooftop pool with views, kitchenette in the room, clean and convenient. A great option to stay in Marbella on a budget.
- Hotel Baviera: This hotel in the center of Marbella offers comfortable double rooms from 80€ per night. Strong points: private parking on site (a luxury in the center!), restaurant with outdoor terrace, very professional staff.
- NH San Pedro: Located in San Pedro Alcántara, about 10 minutes drive (or a nice walk along the boulevard) from Puerto Banús. Double rooms from 100€. Strong points: rooftop terrace, much cheaper than hotels in Banús, but very close. Great strategic location for saving money.
- The Cortijo Boutique Marbella: Located in a quiet residential area east of Marbella. Rustic-style rooms from 140€, breakfast included. Strong points: Andalusian charm, garden with pool, very intimate and personal atmosphere. An excellent choice if you’re looking for a quite place and have a car!
Where to Stay in Marbella with Family
- Pensión Villa Palma: Located in a quiet residential area, just 10 minutes walk from the Old Town. Quadruple rooms from 120€. Strong points: private kitchen, beautiful garden patio, authentic family atmosphere. Perfect for a family stay in Marbella without breaking the bank.
- VIME La Reserva de Marbella: Located in the quiet residential area of Las Chapas, 10 km from the center (10 min by car). Apartments with 2 bedrooms and kitchen from 150€. Strong points: 2 outdoor pools plus a heated indoor pool, buffet restaurant, spacious duplex layout ideal for families.
- Guadalpin Suites: Located on the famous Golden Mile, halfway between the center and Puerto Banús. Modern 2-bedroom apartments with large terraces from 200€. Strong points: fully equipped kitchens, large swimming pool, privacy of an apartment with hotel services. My favorite for its excellent value for money!
- Ona Alanda Club Marbella: Located in the Elviria district (East Marbella), near Nikki Beach. 2-bedroom apartments from 210€, breakfast included. Strong points: true holiday village feel with 3 outdoor pools and 1 heated indoor pool, kids club, gym and squash courts. Perfect if you want to do some activities!
- Coral Beach Aparthotel: Located on the Golden Mile, just a 10-minute walk along the promenade to Puerto Banús. Spacious 2-bedroom apartments with full kitchen from 350€. Strong points: direct beach access without crossing any roads, large outdoor pool, huge gardens for kids to play in. A fantastic beachfront option for families!
