The Downtown and SoBro (South of Broadway) districts are the vibrant heart of Music City.
This is where you’ll find the famous “Honky Tonk Highway” (Honky tonks are bars with live country music) on Broadway, with live music spilling out of every bar from morning until late at night.
It’s the best area if you want to be in the middle of the action and walk to the city’s main music attractions.
You should stay in this district if you want:
- To be right in the heart of the city (perfect for a first time stay)
- To explore all main landmarks easily on foot
- If you love going out at night, with numerous bars featuring live country music.
- For the classic Nashville experience.
This is the perfect area to see:
- The Honky Tonks on Broadway, with legendary bars like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge.
- Ryman Auditorium, the historic “Mother Church of Country Music”
- Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
- The Johnny Cash Museum
- Printers Alley, a historic street with a mix of classic cocktail bars and music venues.
- The Pedestrian Bridge, offering great views of the Cumberland River and the city skyline.

The Gulch, a short walk from SoBro, is one of Nashville’s mosre upscale areas.
This former industrial area is now filled with chic boutiques, restaurants, and modern hotels, offering a more polished and contemporary vibe.
Staying in The Gulch lets you enjoy a sophisticated side of Nashville while still being close to the main attractions.
You should really stay in The Gulch if you want:
