Lapad district

Lapad district is located west of Dubrovnik. It offers a peaceful, seaside atmosphere just a few kilometers from the Old Town.

Lapad is well-known for its beautiful beaches, perfect if you’re looking to swim or enjoy water sports.

It’s also a lively area, with restaurants, bars, and cafés open late into the night.

This district is an excellent compromise for those who want to combine beach relaxation, nightlife, and quick access to the historical center by bus or even on foot.

This neighborhood is perfect to stay in Dubrovnik if you want to:

• Enjoy the beach
• Go out at night
• Benefit from a wide choice of accommodations, including resort hotels with spas and pools.

Lapad district is the perfect area to discover:

• Lapad Beach
• Šetalište kralja Zvonimira promenade, for lovely seaside strolls
• Coastal walking path Šetalište Nika i Meda Pucića, passing bays and hotels offering beautiful viewpoints
• Petka park, where you can take a walk and enjoy panoramic views from the top
• Many restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops, great for trying Dalmatian cuisine!
• Gruž port, departure point for day tours to neighboring islands.

My selection of best hotels in Lapad district

• Hotel Vis: Located directly on the small Vis beach. Double room with balcony and sea view from 150€, breakfast included. Strong points: direct access to a private beach, bus stop in front of the hotel reaching the Old Town in 15 min, ideal location, and magnificent sea view. An great choice for its excellent value for money!
• Hotel Ivka: Only 5 min walk from Petka park. Modern and nicely decorated double rooms from 200€, breakfast for an extra 15€. Strong points: close to the bus stop to reach Old Town, excellent breakfast, and welcoming staff.
• Hotel Lero: Located midway between Lapad beach and the Old Town. Bright and spacious double room from 230€, breakfast included. Strong points: indoor and outdoor pools, free parking, and wide breakfast selection.
• Hotel Dubrovnik Palace: This 5-star hotel is located at the tip of Lapad peninsula, right by the sea. It offers rooms with large windows and balconies overlooking the sea, from 480€, breakfast included. Strong points: Spa with pool, jacuzzi, and hammam, the quiet atmosphere, excellent restaurant, stunning surroundings. My favorite hotel for a romantic seaside stay in Dubrovnik!
• Rixos Premium Dubrovnik: This luxury hotel is just 100 meters from the beach. Stay in bright, elegantly decorated rooms from 510€, breakfast included. Strong points: the spa area, indoor and outdoor pools, fantastic breakfast, excellent location. Simply the best hotel for a luxury stay in Dubrovnik!

In Babin Kuk District

Babin Kuk district is located at the northern tip of Lapad Peninsula, in a luxury residential area overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

Here you’ll enjoy a peaceful environment, away from the hustle and bustle, yet just 10-15 minutes by bus from Dubrovnik Old Town.

Babin Kuk is famous for its private beaches and beach clubs, including the popular Copacabana Beach.

You should stay in Babin Kuk if:

• You love a chic atmosphere.

The best things to do in Babin Kuk district:

Best Hotels to Stay in Babin Kuk District

• Hotel d’Elegant Dubrovnik: Located 700 meters from Copacabana Beach. Large and spacious double room with balcony from 190€, breakfast included. Strong points: great location, parking, welcoming staff.
• Royal Neptun Hotel: Located at the end of Babin Kuk peninsula. Modern and comfortable double room from 280€, breakfast included. Strong points: 2 pools, spa, amazing breakfast, fantastic views. An excellent choice to stay in Dubrovnik!
• Valamar Argosy Hotel: Overlooking the sea. Double room with balcony and park views from 300€, breakfast included. Strong points: indoor and outdoor swimming pools, helpful staff, bus stop nearby to reach the historic center.
• Royal Blue Hotel: This 5-star hotel overlooks a small bay. It offers elegant rooms, all with balconies. From 380€, breakfast included. Strong points: rooftop infinity pool, beautiful panorama, tranquility. My recommendation for a luxury stay in Babin Kuk!
• President Hotel, Valamar Collection: This luxury resort is located right by the beach. It offers beautiful suites, all featuring sea views. From 410€, breakfast included. Strong points: private beach with sunbeds and umbrellas, heated pool, attentive staff. Simply the best luxury hotel in this district of Dubrovnik!

In Dubrovnik Old Town

Dubrovnik Old Town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Its perfectly preserved cobblestone streets, palaces, churches and monasteries are truly fascinating.

Staying in the old town means you’re directly in the middle of all the action, with cafés, restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques around every corner.

It’s the ideal location if you want to visit everything on foot.

But be aware that available accommodation mainly includes small guesthouses and apartments. I’ve listed it last because it isn’t that easy to find a place to stay there.

Where to stay in Dubrovnik Old Town?

• Old Town City Center Apartments: Located very close to Stradun street. Cosy, nicely furnished rooms or apartments, from 260€. Strong points: Central location, very comfortable bedding.
• Boutique Villa Dorma: Located 5 min walking from the Old Town. Modern and chic double rooms from 340€, breakfast available at 8€. Strong points: high quality amenities, comfort, parking space.
• Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik: This luxury 5* hotel is set in a beautiful 19th-century building, only 5 min walking from Onofrio’s Fountain. It offers elegant, comfortable rooms decorated in pastel tones from 650€, breakfast included. Strong points: stunning indoor pool under a glass ceiling, exceptional service, excellent breakfast. This is my recommendation for a luxury stay in Dubrovnik Old Town!

Where to stay in Dubrovnik on a budget

If you’re traveling with a tighter budget, here is my selection of cheap hotels in Dubrovnik:

• Hostel Free Bird: Hostel located 2 km away from the Old Town. Dorm bed from 50€. Strong points: modern facilities, very clean. One of the best places to stay in Dubrovnik on a budget.
• Guest House Bradas: Located only 2 km from the center. Rooms with shared bathroom from 80€. Strong points: super friendly welcome, clean and peaceful environment.
• Hostel 365 For U: Located 1.5 km from the Old Town walls. Room from 85€. Strong points: air conditioning, great atmosphere and comfy beds.

Where to stay in Dubrovnik with family

• Villa Odak: Located 15 min walking from Old Town. Studios or apartments with sea view accommodating up to 4 people, from 220€. Strong points: beautiful view, great location, quiet and clean.
• Apartments Dilberovic: Located 10 min from the center. Two-bedroom apartments from 270€. Strong points: bright, spacious and modern interior.
• Sunny Dubrovnik by Valamar: Located in Babin Kuk. Rooms for 3 or 4 persons from 360€, all-inclusive formula (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Strong points: great facilities for kids (pool, playground with trampolines, cinema, video games, entertainment), sea view, food variety. I highly recommend this resort for a family stay in Dubrovnik!

If you are looking for the best hotel in Dubrovnik, I recommend you the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik.

And if you’re looking for something a little more affordable but still luxurious, you should book a night or more at Hotel Dubrovnik Palace.
