The City Centre is the bustling heart of Liverpool and contains several distinct areas, including the famous Cavern Quarter and the lively Ropewalks district.

This area is the commercial and entertainment hub, filled with shops, restaurants, and iconic music venues.

It offers a vibrant atmosphere day and night.

It’s the best area to be close to all the main attractions and transport links.

You should stay in this district:

  • For a first time visit, as you’ll be within walking distance of most major sights.
  • To experience Liverpool’s famous nightlife, with countless pubs, bars, and clubs.
  • For shopping, especially around Liverpool ONE.
  • To dive into music history and the story of The Beatles.

This is the perfect area to see:

  • The Cavern Club, the legendary venue where The Beatles’ fame began.
  • Liverpool ONE, a huge open-air shopping and leisure complex.
  • St. George’s Hall, a stunning Neoclassical building with beautiful concert halls and law courts.
  • The World Museum and Walker Art Gallery, offering fantastic collections of art and historical artifacts.
  • Bold Street, famous for its independent shops, cafes, and restaurants.
  • The Royal Albert Dock.

  • Radisson RED Hotel, Liverpool: Set in a historic building opposite Lime Street Station. Stylish, modern rooms from 170€. Strong points: fantastic rooftop bar with city views, great location for sightseeing, very comfortable beds. A great choice for its excellent location and trendy vibe.
  • Hard Days Night Hotel: A unique Beatles-themed hotel in the Cavern Quarter. Stylish double rooms from 180€. Strong points: a must for Beatles fans, fantastic location, lively atmosphere.
  • The Municipal Hotel Liverpool – MGallery: This 5-star hotel is housed in a stunning historical building. Elegant rooms from 250€. Strong points: luxurious spa, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, exceptional service, and historic charm. My top pick for a luxurious stay in Liverpool.

At the Royal Albert Dock and Waterfront

The Royal Albert Dock and Waterfront area is one of Liverpool’s most scenic and historic districts.

The restored Victorian warehouses now house museums, galleries, and restaurants.

This area is still just a short walk from the main attractions.

Staying here means waking up to beautiful views of the River Mersey and iconic architecture.

You should really stay at the Waterfront if you want:

  • To be close to Liverpool’s best museums and galleries.
  • A quieter location that’s still very central.
  • For a family trip
  • To enjoy beautiful walks along the river.

This district is perfect for discovering:

  • Tate Liverpool, showcasing modern and contemporary art.
  • The Beatles Story, an immersive museum dedicated to the Fab Four.
  • Merseyside Maritime Museum, which explores the city’s seafaring past.
  • The Museum of Liverpool, telling the story of the city and its people.
  • The Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building, known as the “Three Graces”.

  • Pullman Liverpool: A stylish, modern hotel next to the M&S Bank Arena. Rooms with river views start at 160€. Strong points: fantastic views, sleek design, perfect for events at the arena.
  • Titanic Hotel Liverpool: A spectacular hotel in a converted warehouse at Stanley Dock. Spacious, stylish rooms from 200€. Strong points: stunning historic architecture, incredible underground spa with a pool, very spacious rooms. My recommendation for a romantic waterfront stay!

The Georgian Quarter is known for its beautiful historic architecture, cobbled streets, and cultural venues.

It’s a more elegant part of the city, home to two stunning cathedrals and the university.
