In the Jewish Quarter (Judería)

The Judería, or Jewish Quarter, is the historic heart of Cordoba and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Its labyrinth of narrow, whitewashed streets, hidden courtyards, and flower-filled balconies makes it the most atmospheric place to stay.

It’s the best area to absorb the city’s unique history and discover its main attractions on foot.

You should stay in this district:

  • For a first time stay, as you’ll be steps away from the most important sights.
  • If you love history and culture, with ancient synagogues and museums around every corner.
  • For a romantic trip, thanks to its charming and picturesque streets.

This is the perfect area to see:

  • The Mezquita-Cathedral, Cordoba’s most iconic monument, famous for its forest of arches and columns.
  • The Synagogue, one of the best-preserved medieval synagogues in Spain.
  • Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a fortress-palace with beautiful gardens and fountains.
  • Calleja de las Flores, a narrow alleyway famous for its colorful flowers and view of the Mezquita’s tower.
  • Casa de Sefarad, a museum dedicated to the history of Sephardic Jews in Cordoba.
  • The Roman Bridge, offering stunning sunset views over the Guadalquivir River
  • The Royal Stables (Caballerizas Reales), where you can see majestic Andalusian horses.
  • Puerta de Sevilla, one of the historic gates to the old city.
  • The Guadalquivir River banks, perfect for a relaxing evening stroll.

In the City Center (Centro)

The Centro district, adjacent to the Jewish Quarter, is Cordoba’s commercial and modern heart. It’s a bustling area centered around the Plaza de las Tendillas.

This is a more contemporary side of Cordoba, with wide avenues, high-street shopping, and a nightlife scene.

You should really stay in Centro:

  • To enjoy easy access to transport and amenities.

This district is perfect for discovering:

  • The Roman Temple, impressive remains of a 1st-century temple discovered in the 1950s.
  • Palacio de Viana, a 15th-century palace famous for its 12 stunning patios and gardens.
