It’s the best area to stay if you want to explore the city’s main attractions on foot and enjoy cafés.
You should stay in this district if you want:
- To discover all the major sights without needing public transport.
- To enjoy nightlife
- For a trip rich in culture and history.
This is the perfect area to see:
- Place de la Comédie, with its Opéra Comédie and the Three Graces fountain.
- Musée Fabre, an important fine art museum.
- Saint-Pierre Cathedral, a remarkable example of Southern Gothic architecture with its imposing porch.
- The Arc de Triomphe and Promenade du Peyrou, with panoramic views of the city.
- The Jardin des Plantes, the oldest botanical garden in France.
- The medieval streets like Rue de la Valfère and Rue de l’Ancien Courrier.

The Antigone district, located a short walk east of the historic center, is an architectural masterpiece designed by Ricardo Bofill.
This area is famous for its grand-scale neoclassical buildings, wide avenues, and beautiful fountains.
Staying in Antigone offers a more modern and peaceful experience while still being very close to the city’s main attractions.
You should really stay in Antigone if you want:
