It’s the best area if you want to be close to the main sights, restaurants, and museums.

You should stay in this district if you want:

  • The Royal Route, a historic thoroughfare connecting the Royal Castle with southern royal residences, lined with churches, palaces, and the University of Warsaw.

In Praga District

Located on the east bank of the Vistula River, Praga is Warsaw’s bohemian and artistic heart.

This district survived the war largely intact, so it offers a more authentic glimpse of pre-war Warsaw with its original courtyards and tenement buildings.

Staying in Praga lets you discover a creative and less touristy side of the capital.

You should really stay in Praga if you want:

  • An authentic and local experience
  • To explore Warsaw’s creative scene, with its art galleries, alternative clubs, and street art.
  • A more budget-friendly stay while still being well-connected to the center.

This district is perfect for discovering:

  • The Neon Museum, showcasing restored neon signs from the Cold War era, located in the Soho Factory complex.
  • The Polish Vodka Museum, set in the former Koneser vodka factory, offering tours and tastings.
  • Ząbkowska and 11 Listopada streets, the hub of Praga’s nightlife with many bars and clubs in former industrial spaces.
  • Original pre-war courtyards, many with small, hidden shrines built by residents during the occupation.
  • The Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Florian the Martyr, an impressive neo-gothic church.

Here are my favorite hotels in Praga district

  • Hotel Hetman: A 5-minute walk from the metro station and Praga’s main attractions. Comfortable double rooms from 85€, breakfast included. Strong points: great location for exploring Praga, clean rooms, and helpful staff.
