In Neustadt (New Town) & around Mirabell Gardens

Neustadt, or New Town, is located just across the Salzach River from the Altstadt.

Developed in the 19th century, this area offers a more modern feel with elegant buildings, wide streets, and beautiful gardens, while still being just a short walk from the historic center.

This district is especially known for the stunning Mirabell Palace and Gardens and is a bit quieter compared to the Old Town.

Staying in Neustadt offers a perfect blend of convenience, beauty, and access to modern amenities.

You should stay in Neustadt if you want:

  • To be close to the train station and make use of public transports
  • If you appreciate beautiful gardens and a more open, residential feel.
  • To have a wide selection of restaurants, bars, and shops at your doorstep.

This district is perfect for discovering:

  • Mirabell Palace and Gardens
  • Mozart’s Residence (Wohnhaus), where the composer lived for several years, now a museum.
  • Salzburg State Theatre (Landestheater), for an evening of opera, ballet, or drama.
