In Chania Old Town
The Old Town of Chania, with its Venetian Harbour, narrow cobblestone streets, and historic buildings, is the heart of the city.
You will see, the atmosphere here is unique, blending Venetian, Turkish, and Greek influences into a picturesque setting.
It’s the best place to stay for a first time visit, as you will be close to the city’s must-see attractions.
You should stay in this district if you want:
- To be in the most atmospheric part of the city
- To explore all the main sights on foot
- To enjoy the best of Chania’s dining and nightlife scene.
This is the perfect area to see:
- The Venetian Harbour, with its stunning lighthouse.

In Nea Chora District
Nea Chora is the city’s beach district, located just a 10-minute walk west of the Old Town.
It offers a relaxed beach vibe with easy access to the historic center.
You should really stay in Nea Chora if you want:
- To be steps away from the beach.
- To enjoy a more local atmosphere
- To feast on the freshest seafood in Chania.
- A great option for families due to the calm, shallow waters of the beach.
This district is perfect for discovering:
- Nea Chora Beach.
- The small fishing harbour at the end of the beach.
- The waterfront tavernas, to have delicious fresh fish.
- A nice walk along the coast to the Old Venetian Harbour.

In Halepa District
Halepa is an historic district located east of the city center.

You can stay in Halepa:
- If you prefer a quiet neighborhood.
- To experience a more historic side of Chania.
Best things to do and see around Halepa:
- The former French and Russian Embassies.
- The house of Eleftherios Venizelos, now a museum dedicated to the famous Greek statesman.
