In the City Center (Aristotelous Square)
Thessaloniki’s city center is built around the magnificent Aristotelous Square.
This area goes from the waterfront up to the ancient Roman Forum and is bustling with life, from high-end shops and cozy cafes to historical monuments.
It’s the best area to stay if you want to explore the city’s main attractions on foot.
You should stay in this district if you want:
- To be at the center of everything
- To enjoy the best shopping on Tsimiski Street.
- To experience the city’s vibrant cafe culture and seaside promenade.
This is the perfect area to see:
- Aristotelous Square.
- The White Tower, offering panoramic views from the top.
- The Waterfront Promenade (Nea Paralia), for long sunset walks.
- The Roman Agora and the Arch of Galerius, remnants of the city’s rich Roman past.
- Hagia Sophia, one of the city’s oldest churches, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- Modiano Market, a historical place to find local delicacies.

In Ladadika District
Just west of the city center lies Ladadika, one of Thessaloniki’s most charming and historic districts.
Once a central market and olive oil hub, its beautifully restored, colorful 19th-century buildings are now home to a maze of cobblestone streets filled with traditional tavernas (ouzeries), lively bars, and restaurants.
Staying in Ladadika means being at the heart of the city’s best nightlife and culinary scene.
You should really stay in Ladadika if you want:
- To enjoy the best food and nightlife the city has to offer.
